Essence: Matt Top Coat vs. Nail Art Special Effect Topper 07 Soft Touch

ENG When Essence Matt Top Coat was discontinued, besides hurrying to buy backups, I thought they maybe were going to re-lauch it someway, as it was a good product and I know that there are several “fans” around the world (or at least in Italy, I'm not the only one who bought more than a backup bottle :D).

Then the new Nail Art Special Effect Top Coat 07 Soft Touch came out and I was wondering if it was the same product just in a different bottle (sometimes Essence/Catrice does similar tricks). So I bought a bottle  and decided to compare them.

ITA  Quando il top coat matte uscì dalla produzione Essence qualche mese fa, mi sembrò strano, perché era comunque un prodotto apprezzato, anche a giudicare da quante, come me, si affrettarono a fare scorta di bottiglie :-)

Poi è apparso il nuovo Nail Art Special Topper 07 Soft Touch e il mio primo pensiero è stato “ecco, sarà il Matt riproposto”, visto che Essence (e Catrice) a volte fanno questi scherzi di reimbottigliamento.

Così mi son comprata una bottiglietta e ho deciso di vedere quanto (e se) fossero differenti, ecco qui un primo paragone su Zoya Neeka:

• index- ring/indice-anulare: Essence Nail Art Special Effect Topper x1
• middle/medio: Essence Matt Top coat x1
• pinkie/mignolo: no top coat - niente top coat

ENG And they are so different! Matt Top coat makes the polish below really dull, surface sometimes comes out streaky and a second coat is required (I felt so when trying to mattify frost polishes), whereas Special Effect Topper gives just a soft satin finish.

Here below another experiment on a red comparison:

ITA Come si vede il Matt conferisce all'unghia un aspetto molto più opaco (e la finitura a volte è anche “strisciata”, meno uniforme – su certi frost in passato avevo dovuto usare due mani) mentre con il Nail Art Topper l'effetto è più morbido e il colore diventa proprio “satinato”.
Di nuovo, stavolta su un laccato rosso (anzi due, visto che era una comparazione):

• ring/anulare: Essence Nail Art Special Effect Topper x1
• pinkie/mignolo: Essence Matt Top coat x1

Even if I bought it just for the sake of comparison, I really love the softer satin finish of Nail Art Topper, maybe more suitable to creme or shimmer bases (for my likings), I already know Matt works perfectly on frost ones.

ITA Anche qui si nota la differenza nella finitura ottenuta.

Conclusioni: ho comprato il Special Effect Topper solo per compararlo ma mi piace tantissimo l'effetto “soft” soprattutto su creme e shimmer, mentre per i frost mi trovo già bene con il matte.
